Realm VTT for AI assistants
Connect Claude or another AI assistant to your Realm VTT account. Every Realm account can use it, and there is nothing to install.
Server URL
https://mcp.realmvtt.com/mcp
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector and paste the server URL.
- Select Connect, sign in on the Realm VTT login page, and choose Allow.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http realmvtt https://mcp.realmvtt.com/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and sign in when your browser opens.
Other assistants
Any app that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in (OAuth) can connect with the same URL.
Preparing campaigns
- Create and edit NPCs, items, spells, tables, effects, journals and encounters.
- Build and organize folders and record links.
- Build 3D scenes and place tokens, props and sounds.
- Edit rulesets and upload images, sounds and 3D models.
Running a game
When you play, the assistant joins your campaign like another browser at the table. Everyone sees its chat, dice and moves as they happen. It uses your ruleset's own automation, the same as clicking in the app.
- Attack, cast and use abilities with NPCs and roll their damage.
- Apply damage and effects to the right tokens.
- Spawn encounters, run the combat tracker and handle turn effects.
- Ask players for checks and saves with a button they click in chat.
- Move tokens on 2D and 3D scenes.
It acts as you. If you are the GM, it can do what you can do. If you are a player, it can only act with your own characters.
Sign-in and privacy
You sign in on the regular Realm VTT login page, including Google sign-in and two-factor codes. The assistant never sees your password. To disconnect, remove the connector from your assistant.
Using the realmvtt-mcp package
The local realmvtt-mcp package (1.x) keeps working but only receives critical fixes. This
server has all of its tools plus live play. Remove the local server from your assistant's settings, then add
this one. A few things work differently:
- Sign in through the connector instead of
realm_login. - Upload files from a web link, or from your computer with a one-time upload link.
- Compile rulesets on your computer with the public ruleset compiler, then upload the result.
